Ausgangspunkt des Films sind prähistorische Höhlenmalereien, die die Umrisse menschlicher Hände zeigen. Der Film begleitet eine poetische Fahrt durch das erwachende, leere Paris. Dazu erklingt ein Text – gesprochen von Marguerite Duras –, der wie ein Brief an einen abwesenden Geliebten wirkt. Eine filmische Meditation über Existenz, Liebe und Vergänglichkeit.

L’homme atlantique (1981, 45 Min., 35 mm/digital)
L’homme atlantique ist ein stiller, introspektiver Film, der durch seine radikale Reduktion filmischer Mittel besticht. Fast ausschließlich aus Schwarzbildern und beinahe unbewegten Schwarzweißaufnahmen zusammengesetzt, entfaltet sich ein visuelles Tagebuch voller Schmerz und Sehnsucht. Duras’ Stimme und ihre Kamera führen uns durch die Landschaft einer Seele, die von einer geliebten Person verlassen wurde.

It accompanies a poetic journey through the awakening, empty streets of Paris, with a text spoken by Marguerite Duras that reads like a letter to an absent lover. A cinematic meditation on existence, love, and transience.

L’homme atlantique (1981, 45 mins, 35mm/digital)
L’homme atlantique is a quiet, introspective film distinguished by its radical reduction of cinematic means. Composed almost entirely of black frames and nearly motionless black-and-white images, it unfolds as a visual diary full of pain and longing. Duras’s voice and camera guide us through the landscape of a soul abandoned by its love.
